Operations Directors

Wassim Hassan
Executive Director
A student of traditional Islamic disciplines as well as a medical student in the US. He graduated with a BA in Biology and Chemistry as well as a minor in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania, and subsequently enrolled in full time traditional Islamic Studies prior to beginning medical school. He is the author of many of Traversing Tradition’s most popular articles. His interests include Theology, Qur’anic Exegesis, Philosophy, Legal Theory, Arabic, and Theosophy.

Fariha Ahmed
Editor-in-Chief
A graduate in cognitive science and a medical student. Her interests include medicine, philosophy, Islamic spirituality and poetry.

Ustadha Raissa Khalil
Marketing Director
An ‘Ālimah based in the US. Her fields of interest include Islamic Theology (‘Aqidah/Kalam) and Hanafi Jurisprudence (Fiqh). You can follow her on Instagram here.

Zain Siddiqi
President
A BA graduate of political science, MS graduate in business management, and coffee shop owner. His interests include Islamic sciences, mental health, politics, and history. You can follow him on Twitter here.

Abu Zayd AbdurRahman
Treasurer
An engineer by day and a bibliophile and student of sacred knowledge by night, with a particular passion for Qirā’āt and Māliki Fiqh. His interests range from philosophy and history to physics and mathematics (and Pokemon). In his spare time, he engages with poetry and plays cricket at a professional level.

Sami Omais
A business school graduate, his background is in political science and history, with focuses in international studies and Europe respectively. His interests include Islamic religious sciences, geopolitics, Middle Eastern history, and Islam in America. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting and the outdoors.

Heraa Hashmi
Best known for her project, Muslims Condemn. She is a law student based in the US with a background in Molecular, Cellular, & Developmental Biology and Linguistics. Her interests include the Islamic sciences, cognitive linguistics, and bioethics. You can follow her on Twitter here.

Eeman Abbasi
A graduate in physiology & neurobiology and human rights, working in international development. Her interests include refugee advocacy, health and human rights, and the food industry.

Bharath H.

A graduate in Law, currently completing a Masters in Law in criminal litigation. He is a junior lawyer, a boxer, and a traveler. His interests include Hanafi jurisprudence, legal and South Asian history, constitutional & human rights law, business, and politics.

A graduate of English from the UK. His interests include literature, film, and Islamic history.

Sabrina Amrane

Maulana Asim Ayub

Graduated from an Islamic Seminary in 2016 and went on to complete a BSc in Economics from Brunel University, followed by Masters in Economic History from the LSE. He is currently in training to become a maths teacher.

A graduate in Computer Science and Cybersecurity with an emphasis in Management. Her interests include technology, especially data science and user-centered design, current events, epistemology, theology, and Islamic tradition.

Waqas Haque

Host of The Thinking Muslim podcast. He teaches Politics & International Relations in the UK and writes for a number of publications. He is currently delivering a course looking at Islam and Liberalism and writing a book on the same subject.

Khansa Khalisha

A graduate in political science, working in a policy advocacy organization in Indonesia. Her interests center around metaphysics, martial arts, Japanese culture, and poetry.

Aynoor Ahmed Khan

Graduate student at Columbia University’s CSER. Her research interests include US immigration law, Japanese American history, and Muslim American self-representations in film & media.

Mahnoor Nadeem

A graduate in Anthropology/Sociology from Lahore University of Management Sciences and is currently pursuing her A’limiyyah degree. Her interests include Muslim intellectual history, Islamic Sciences as well as Western philosophical thought.
