When I Die

The following is a verse that was composed in a moment of sorrow and love for humanity. As I reflected on my daily interactions with others, I lamented my inability to convey the messages I have learned about Islam and yet in such sadness, finding hope in the One who Created us all.

When I die,
I apologize to you for my cowardice
That I turned my head away
From you and myself
That I could convey to you properly
The Truth

When I die,
I pray that we all die upon guidance
And that you will be guided
Even though I could not face you
And say it to your face
The Truth

For I lack the courage and compassion
Of the Prophets (upon them be peace)
Of our Father Ibrahim (upon him be peace)
And our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
Who taught with the greatest Love

When I die,
My sincerest prayer is to be
On that Path
And reflect that Light
But I am failing

I am in great need
Of the One who gives all
The Truth
The Guidance
The Love
The Success
Who has the best names

When I die,
I want the best for everyone
Whose paths I cross
And those I do not
I want the best for myself

Surely He is Capable of all things
So I apologize
But I also embrace my weakness
For it is in weakness that I find Him
And I pray He brings you close.
